plugin development

"Solutions for the
Curtain Wall Design
Operate Lifecycle
"

The interview of CAAD Department of student's projects. I'm in the middle part who wears orange shirt.

The videos are created during my studying in Ruby programming language. This project is the most challenging thing I've ever done.

The story of plugin development

  • The inspiration to do this project emerged from my ruby computer class at CAAD, Computer Aided Architectural Design  , Silpakorn University. During that time , I was assigned to develop the help tool for architects by using Ruby programming language. After that I tried to think the possibility of projects to do , then I came across to see many curtain wall buildings in the websites. So , it's the beginning of my interest about facade design.
  • With the supporting of my advisor Asst.Prof.Thitipat Pratharnsap and lecturer Prayooth Bhundularp who encouraged me to do the Curtain Wall Plugin project , and introduction of some curtain wall design companies in Bangkok , Thailand , I started to research the users' requirements from many companies. Furthermore, I went to the seminar of Glass Tech Asia which was held at Bitec Convention Centre, and listened to the talks about curtain wall design of foreign architects, fabricators, and Australian facade directors. This event made me understand the role of facade engineering industry in general ideas.
  • To make me more understanding about facade design working process , I had a chance to interview with Mr.Peter Bouras who is an Associate Director Façade at Meinhardt (Thailand) Ltd. He explained and taught me about the curtain wall structure from his experience more than 20 years. His kindness to spend time of teaching me created my ideas to develop the curtain wall plugin according to the users' requirements of both architects , and facade engineers.
  • My effort to make this curtain wall plugin become real , and falling in love with it made me overcome the hardest time of developing the plugin since I do not have a background knowledge of computer programming. My technique is learning by doing and asking programmers in order to improve my works. My study life is all day testing the linking of SketchUp and Ruby Codes. The final outcome, I see myself developing my skills in computer software and technology.
  • The  presentation of curtain wall 3D modelling and material take-off plugin to all architecture and curtain wall design companies, the feedback is very good. Everyone appreciate this plugin which can reduce of their working time and bring the new ideas for future collaboration in curtain wall design process.
  • In the future, I have a dream to work in the field of facade consulting engineers by using my developing plugin because the plugin gives me very quick in 3D modelling , meanwhile giving the model information of material take-off with ease of use, and works effectively in the curtain wall presentations between architects and facade consulting engineers.
"My Deepest Thanks to All Architecture and Curtain Wall Design Companies to give me ideas of developing a Curtain Wall Plugin"
